Join us for an upcoming event that discusses how American exceptionalism is the main framework that guides US Foreign policy.

This event will attempt to deconstruct the discrepancies between the ideological underpinnings and the practice of American exceptionalism and disentangle the consequences of its discrepancies.

This panel seeks to unpack the overlooked assumptions that undergird American exceptionalism and understand how the US can grapple with its violent history to work towards playing a positive role in international relations. @gwudiversityandinclusion

In an effort to bring to light the presence of coloniality within international studies, we are hosting this event where we welcome scholars from the various fields of international studies of Africa to have a dialogue on how international affairs narratives of Africa are largely dominated by white voices and how to reorient flawed understandings of African histories, civilizations and politics. Participants will then be encouraged to ask questions to the experts in a moderated discussion. We hope that through this event participants are able to unlearn the flawed assumptions and narratives of the continent.

In an effort to raise awareness about recent event

In an effort to raise awareness about recent events in India as a result of the CAA and NRC, we are hosting a public lecture open to the GWU undergraduate community where we welcome experts and community organizers to share their experiences and insights on civil society capacity-building in the post-conflict transition. Participants will then be encouraged to directly dialogue with the experts in a moderated discussion. We hope that through this event participants are able to learn new perspectives civil society engagement and the changing vision of democracy in India. See you all tonight!

Hey SIRs, we’re starting this semester’s study abroad takeovers with Brendan!! Brendan is currently abroad with the GW Madrid program with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He’s had the opportunity to do some awesome stuff like take a Spanish art history class at the Prado Museum, visit a NGO based on refugee protection, and take trips around Spain.
